the base game is still a great time, but it severely lacks without the stuff that came later. I'd ideally recommend picking this up with the Road to Boruto expansion, as you get a hell of a lot more with it, including a few additional story modes, an entire new campaign adapting Boruto: Naruto the Movie, a whole host of alts and outfits for the characters, and just a generally more complete experience. Plus, getting S ranks is an addicting feeling - and I'm close to getting them all! go play it, or even watch it online, and you'll see what I mean. I honestly cannot sing it's praise enough, just. Considering this game was the only piece of Naruto media adapting the iconic final clash of Naruto and Sasuke from the manga, before even the anime did, they did a wonderful job.

This game is one of, if not the most convenient and ideal ways to experience this part of the story of Naruto, and I would definitely say it's a worthy alternative to watching the anime for it.Īnd the final boss. The Ultimate Ninja Storm series has always been known for it's more concise and digestible way of experiencing the narrative of Naruto, and this one is an especially great example, covering a portion of the story that is pretty subjective on the whole, but doing it in a way that puts the pacing of both it's source material and ESPECIALLY it's anime counterpart to shame. Why is this simple story mode important in this fighting game?īecause it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ incredible, that's why. It can lead to some really cool and unexpected matchups, as well as the potential of discovering what team you enjoy having.īut I'd be making a mistake if I weren't to talk about the story mode of this game. Pretty much every character you could ask for from the world of Naruto is here, making for a true celebration of this series' legacy. Not to mention, this game's character roster is incredible. Personally I find this to be my favourite gameplay of any Naruto game released, even of the previous titles in this series.
It makes for some really enjoyable and fast paced battles, and some crazy difficult ones depending on how you adjust the settings and choose to go about things. This game really captures the essence of Naruto, in how fast and slick your movements are, the vast and varied arrays of jutsu you can pull off with different characters, and a ton of fun combo potentials with the addition of tagging in and out characters on a 3-man-team system introduced in this game. So, now we'll get to the gameplay itself. The animations and movement on display here are so incredibly fluid and awesome, so having the higher framerate enhances the experience tenfold.

Moving on, I just wanna quickly touch on this - as someone coming from the Ps4 version to this, I can't go back after the IMMENSE difference having 60FPS does to this game. I was never too bothered with the online mode, and I'm not exactly wildly good at the game, so this isn't too much of a problem for me, but it definitely will be for a lot of people, so I figured it's best to cover it first. don't expect to have an easy time, especially with how easy it can be to exploit some of this game's characters and mechanics. This means that you may not find matches too easily, and when you do. Here's the thing this game's been out for a good while now, and as such, the online community has dwindled a LOT since the peak of it's popularity, and those who are still around have had a lot of time to hone their skills. Of course, this is subjective, and you may indeed have a blast. I can't guarantee that you'll have a great time here. if you're looking for a primarily online multiplayer experience.
